After a bizarre encounter turns her world upside down, things slowly begin to change. She finds herself in desperation as she searches for answers. What she discovers is nothing is delivered in a neatly wrapped box.

Now that everything has been brought out into the open, she finds she can’t run away from her truth anymore. With her new life, comes new responsibilities and a different outcome than what she was expecting.

Jackie isn’t alone in the story. She meets several new people who help her along her journey.

pexels-photo-573299.jpegNow for a surprise teaser to get you started.

She did her best to blend in, walking around, drink in hand. Then she saw Holly. This time she wasn’t letting her get away, so she locked in on her.
Arching her eyebrow, Holly said, “So you’re back, I see. How would you like to go do something bad?”
Jackie felt her heart race like she was running a marathon. Her nipples hardened and her insides quivered. Smiling, she replied, “What did you have in mind?”
     “Whatever you’d like.”
Jackie led her to the pool house. She imagined feeling the warmth of the woman’s smooth naked skin against hers.
They slipped into the darkness. The glow of the full moon provided their only light.       Closing the door, Holly was suddenly all over her. “Are you ready for the ride of your life?” Holly asked.
Jackie barely got, “Oh, yes” out of her mouth when Holly’s mouth was upon hers. She worked her tongue into Jackie’s mouth and their tongues danced. Reaching behind Jackie, she unzipped her dress and gently moved it over her shoulders. It fell to the floor and Jackie kicked it away.

Meet Author Graysen Morgen

Good afternoon friends and welcome. I want to thank all of you who visited last week for my 2018 Goals blog. Today I have a special treat for you. Author Graysen Morgen  of Triplicity Publishing  is here to talk with us. This is an interview you want to read. She is amazing. Come see why.

Author Profile Picture

Tell us about yourself.
I’ve been happily married to my best friend for 18½ years, and we have a 7-year-old daughter. I went to the University of Florida, which is where I met my wife. I was a Lieutenant in the Navy, working as a flight deck officer on an aircraft carrier. I now spend my time writing books, sports writing for women’s pro soccer, and coaching youth soccer.

What is your book “Boone Creek” about?
Boone Creek is a western, set in Colorado in 1880. This story is the first in a series about an outlaw woman named Jessie Henry, who leaves her past behind to start anew. She winds up in a small, troubled town called Boone Creek, where after a mishap, she becomes the Town Marshall.

Me: Graysen’s new book, ‘Castor Valley’, is the second in this series and one that you’re going to want to read.

How did you feel the moment you saw your first book published?
I was overjoyed. I’d always loved reading, and once I’d started writing, it sort of took off. I’m still thrilled to see each new book get published. It’s a huge sense of accomplishment.

What was the last book you read? Would you recommend it?
I don’t find as much time to read as I used to, but the last book I made time for was Scarlett. It’s a sequel to Gone With The Wind, by Alexandra Ripley.

How has your daughter been an inspiration for you?
My daughter, Rylie, is my whole world. She looks up to me in so many ways and mimics everything I do. I try my best to be a good role model for her. She makes me a better person. When I first wrote Natural Instinct, my wife and I weren’t thinking of having any children, at least at that time. It’s funny, my daughter turned out very similar in character to the little girl in the book. I don’t write many children into my books, but each one has a piece of Rylie in it for sure, whether it’s when she was little, what she’s like now, or what I hope for her to be like as she gets older.

Graysen and Rylie

What are your daughter’s creative activities?
She loves anything to do with art, and she’s actually written two books about animals, both of which she also illustrated. Plus, an avid reader and has a soaring imagination.

How has your family been supportive of your career?
My wife is the person who first told me I should write my own stories, instead of reading so many books, mostly because after reading a book, I’d tell her everything I would’ve done differently. J When I wrote a couple of stories, she pushed me to get them published. She’s been behind me from the very beginning. The rest of my family is very proud of what I have accomplished. Some of them have read every single book that has been published.

Can you explain more about “#Bekindchallenge”?
Be Kind Challenge is about random acts of kindness. There is so much power in a simple gesture. The challenge is a month of doing one kind thing every day.

What is the cutest thing your dogs do?
Remy and Roxy are Jack Russell Terriers who are just over a year old. They are littermate girls, and they run our lives! J They chase each other around the house, watch TV with our daughter, hang out in the office when I’m writing, you name it. I’d say the cutest thing is the way they are always together. The sleep in the oddest positions like yin/yang or on top of each other.

Roxy and Remy

Who are you rooting for in the next World Cup Soccer championship?
If it’s the World Cup, then I’m always rooting for the USA. I’m a fan of Canada, Australia, and England so I root for them if they’re not playing the USA.

Where is a good place to hang out with friends?
We do a lot of family stuff, so our hangout this past year was Disney World, literally every month. We have an oasis in our backyard, so hanging out at home is always nice.

What would be the perfect ‘stay-cation’ for you?
We pretty much have a stay-cation every weekend, but the perfect stay-cation for me would be some quiet time with absolutely nothing to do but read a novel or lie in the hammock by the pool.

What is your favorite time of year and why?
I love the holidays. There is just something magical about that time of year. We decorate inside and put up a full yard display outside with a lot of lights and wood cutouts that I make myself. I also look forward to the little bit of cold weather that we get in North Florida.

Would you ever want to co-write a book with another author?
Probably not. I believe all authors have a vision, and everyone’s vision is different.

What puts you in the zone when you are writing?
Music is my muse, so I listen to music when I write. It varies from classical to pop and everything in between.

Soccer Coach

What’s next for you?
I am currently working on a romantic adventure/suspense story that involves British MI6. I’m really hoping to turn it into a series. It’s fun, thrilling, sexy, humorous, all the qualities that make for a good read.

Yearly Goals 2018

Hello, Everyone! It’s great to see you all. First of all, I’d like to thank all of you who stopped by last week for my review of Blake Everstone’s, ‘Ominous Tales.’ It was great seeing you all.

It’s January again, which means long nights and short days. That doesn’t cut into my workday though, and I continue to work in the dark aka 5:00 p.m. Good news is the days are now getting longer and on 11-Mar-18 we will be back on daylight savings time. I have really been enjoying the new year so far and am looking forward to what’s next.2015-09-08 11.10.25This year I am setting goals as opposed to resolutions. These seem to fail for one reason or another. I have read goal lists that other people have shared and I saw for myself that they work. One of my FB friends does goals and she succeeds in meeting them. I am amazed at authors who do this because I believe in the practice.

I’ve made some 2018 goals that I’d like to share with you:

Workout Profile1.   Workout at the gym three times a week at a moderate speed.
2.   Keep drinking lots of water.
3.   Write more personal blogs.
4.   Keep reaching out to artists and authors.
5.   Submit a new manuscript to be published.
6.   Get my other WIP’s finished.
7.   Stay positive.
8.   Have get-togethers with friends and family.
9.   Go see live musical performances.
10. See a few live Dodger games.
11. Get out of town and take a short trip.Morro BayThat is my list so far. I’ll add more as the year goes on. I’m going to keep this blog and refer to it from time to time to see how I’m progressing. I understand that some are ongoing and my goal is to incorporate them into my schedule with ease.

In recent years, I’ve noticed a shift in my consciousness and I now feel that a lot of things that used to bother me I’ve let go.

Going to the gym used to be a chore for me, now I view it as a fun way to help maintain my physical health. Also, it has done wonders in such ways as stress reduction and increased energy. I am able to go now and set the cardio machine on a low level and get a nice workout. I just bring my water bottle and my phone and I’m in another world.Full SunLast weekend we helped out with a blanket drive for the homeless. We bagged up the blankets and took them to downtown LA to distribute. It was an eye-opening experience and one that I’m glad I helped out with. There were a lot of tents up on the sidewalks. It felt good to help out and to hear people tell me “God Bless.” I plan to do more work like this.

I believe in always being positive and I have seen results with this attitude. Very grounded and confident people are coming my way in greater numbers.  I have a lot of things to thank for my peaceful living.

Before I go, I’d like to include my excitement for the new baseball season. Only a few more weeks until Exhibition and then soon the 2018 regular season will begin. We are going all the way this year. Go Blue!Opening DayStay tuned for some other great news that I will be sharing with you in the weeks to come. Next week I will be featuring author Graysen Morgen. You are going to want to mark this one down and you will see why next week.

Until Next Time,

Lynn

#FF #Flashback Friday – Meet Author KA Moll

Good afternoon everyone and a warm welcome to you all. I want to thank author Darla Baker for stopping by last week. It was a pleasure to have you. For those of you who missed her interview, you can click on the link below.

https://lynnlawler.wordpress.com/2017/11/27/meet-author-darla-baker/
https://lynnlawler.blogspot.com/2017/11/meet-author-darla-baker.html

Today I’m reposting my interview with author KA Moll that was originally published on 04-Mar-17. Since then she’s been busy and published ‘Blue Ice Landing’ and as Cade Brogan, ‘Close Enough to Touch.’ In addition, she is hard at work with her next project, a sequel to her best selling romance ‘Change of Heart,’ due out in early 2018. KA is an amazing woman . Read on to find out more about this dynamic story teller.

***

Good afternoon friends and welcome.  Today I have a special treat for you.  Author K.A. Moll has stopped by to chat.  She is busy underway with several writing projects, one of which is discussed below.  I read her book, ‘Change of Heart’ and reviewed it on 26-Aug-16.  This is definitely one to put on your reading list.

Author PhotoAbout all you can do in life is be who you are. Some people will love you for you. Most will love you for what you can do for them, and some won’t like you at all.

~ Rita Mae Brown

What is ‘Change of Heart’ about?

It’s a story about high school sweethearts, reunited after two decades. It’s about how these two women move beyond hurt feelings and shattered trust to rekindle their flame that still burns hot.

What was your inspiration behind the book cover for ‘Change of Heart’?

The cover for ‘Change of Heart’ is from a watercolor created by my biological sister, Cindy. Her work is also on the cover of “For A Moment’s Indiscretion.” I don’t know how she managed to get inside my head to capture this story in her painting…but she did. I was adopted as a preemie and didn’t find her until I was in my forties. It never fails to amaze me how we connected. It feels as if she’s been a part of my life forever.

Did you do any types of writing while you were in school?  If so, did you receive any awards or recognition for your work?

I was on the school newspaper in high school and I took writing/literature courses in college.

Was there anyone or anything in your life who encouraged you to write?   If so, what did they do?

My wife is my number one beta reader and my biggest fan. I couldn’t accomplish half of what I do without her support and input.

Is there a different genre that you’d like to write a story in and why?

No, not really. If there were, I’d have probably already written it. To date, I’ve written books in romance, paranormal, and suspense/thriller.

One day you get the call asking if you’d like to make ‘Change of Heart’ into a movie.  Who would you cast as the main players?

Wow…that’d be a nice call. Hmmmm…I guess Lily Gladstone for Jack…but she’d need a haircut. And for Courtney…I guess Stana Katic.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you. Thank you so much for reading my books and for opening your hearts to my characters, most of whom have considerable emotional baggage.

Can you elaborate on what has worked for you to regenerate creativity?

So far, I’ve been fortunate to have not needed much regeneration. If anything, I’ve had to beat stories down so that one could move forward. If I did need to regenerate, I’d listen to smooth jazz or walk a nature trail.

Have you ever created a character (either main or supporting) who was so awful in personality that even you felt dislike toward?

Jahi in “Haunting Love” was a nasty piece of work.

What musical groups do you follow and can you describe their style?

I like Fay Wolf, Hem, and k.d. Lang.

What is your favorite vegetarian meal?

I like most all vegetarian dishes a lot…especially Indian and Cajan…Mmmm, red beans and rice. But…I suppose my favorite would have to be my wife’s broccoli casserole.

Let’s give a shout out to TriPub books.  What would you like to say to them?

…That I couldn’t be more pleased…but they already know that.

What has been your favorite part of being an author?  The least favorite?

I pretty much love everything about it…but I suppose if I had to choose, my favorite thing would be getting to know and be a part of this amazing lesfic community. Least favorite…hummm…well I guess that would have to be marketing.

What other authors do you follow?  Which books would you recommend?

I’m a HUGE Radclyffe fan…although I must admit I like her older works better. My favorite of all her books is “Passion’s Bright Fury.” Next in line would be “Love’s Melody Lost.”

What is in the works next for you?

My work in progress is titled “To Believe In Magic.” Jack and Courtney from “Change of Heart” will be strong secondary characters in the work. If all goes well, it should release mid-summer.

Change of Heart book coverHere’s an excerpt from ‘Change of Heart’…

Jack opened the passenger door for Courtney and she climbed in. Then Jack walked around the vehicle to climb in the other side. She sighed as she looked over her shoulder to back out of the narrow driveway. “When are you gonna tell me, Courtie?” she asked.

Courtney began to cry.

“I can see it’s tearing you up inside,” Jack continued. “I think you’d feel better if you told me.” Courtney cried a little harder.

“Whatever it is,” Jack said softly, “it happened a longtime ago and we’ve moved on.” She shifted gears. “Why can’t you just tell me?”

Courtney hiccupped a sob.

“Okay, I’ll leave you be,” Jack said. “I guess you’ll tell me when you’re ready.”

My Review for Cade Brogan’s ‘Close Enough to Touch’

Good afternoon readers and welcome. Today as I promised I am sharing my review for Cade Brogan’s thriller, ‘Close Enough to Touch.’ This is her first book with this genre and one that you’re going to love!

Book Cover

This story is one of a kind and has a daring theme. I haven’t read anything like this in a long time so it was exciting to read this one. The first character, Joanna, grabbed my attention from the beginning. There are three other players Rylee, Kenzie, and Chastity. Each woman is very different and glues together the story perfectly.

Joanna and Rylee know each other through work. Joanna is a strange girl and has a distorted view of life. The fascinating thing is no one knows her secrets except herself. She uses people like one uses a tool and right under their noses! She’s slick and smooth and neatly lures others into her web. Her bizarre actions added to her madness. It was amazing how she did all this with her low-tech methods.

Although, I found her very conceited, her courageousness and confidence were very appealing. She is very organized and pays attention to details, from all angles. She’s a woman, if one didn’t know better, they would look up to since she is brilliant and personable when needed. She would do wonders if she could just switch her mind set.

Rylee, for the most part was a likable character, but has a dangerous profession. She is a tough and solid woman who focuses on the miracles when taking risks. Even in life, she’s not one to sit on the pity-pot wishing her life were different. She handles challenges very professionally and in a calm matter. I really like this woman.

>Kenzie is Rylee’s old college girlfriend. Today, Kenzie walks around with a heavy heart and hides behind a façade and her church. Inside of her is pent up sexual energy that she desperately needs to release. I really felt for this woman because she is a good person. However, you’ll have to decide for yourself if at one time she had an ulterior mode with Rylee.

Author Photo

The love of Kenzie’s life is her daughter, Abby. It is obvious that Kenzie loves motherhood. She is strict and sticks to her guns, which I felt strengthened the bond. I loved the mother-daughter relationship and how Abby shows her independence. This was a great touch to the story.

During their time of separation, Rylee meets up with Chastity. Chastity has a one-track mind, very determined and clever. She chooses to wallow in the past, while attempting to recreate it in the present. She doesn’t let things go and I found this to be disturbing. Needless to say, I don’t care for her because I don’t feel she respected Rylee at all. The only thing going for this character is that she created some really intense drama.

In the present, Kenzie and Rylee meet up for the first time since college and it was fun watching the sparks ignite. The circumstances for their reunion couldn’t have been any worse, which I feel showed the strong woman in both of them. They are very believable and had real feelings.

I loved the flirting that went on between our two love birds. These parts were really well thought out and the flow kept me wanting more. The romance scenes were very hot and tender, but a bit graphic, just to let you know. If you love steam, you’ve come to the right place.

The story is fast paced and will keep you hooked the entire ride. The suspense is addicting. It took me about five and a half hours to read and I found it hard to put down. There were a few disturbing scenes that shocked me and were hard to read. I had to remind myself that this is just fiction.

You may be alarmed while reading this, but keep with it. This story will keep you wondering afterwards. I am recommending this book for all who love intense thrill-seeking drama paired with a flare of romance.

Book Cover

Here is an excerpt to get you started:

“Come here,” Kenzie invited, setting her glass on the coffee table. “Sit right here,” she added, nodding downward, “and I’ll rub your shoulders.” It’s what she used to do every night during finals.

Rylee settled between her legs, leaning back against the couch. “Mmm, I could get used to this,” she moaned as Kenzie rubbed one, the other, and both. She tipped her head back, caught her eye, and added, “You haven’t lost your touch.”

“I should hope not,” Kenzie responded, smiling as she moved to rub her neck, and stroke her temples.

“Oh, yeah,” Rylee moaned, turning her head, her cheek resting on Kenzie’s thigh. She planted one kiss, and then another, turned a little more, and inched her fingers up her gown.

“Mmm, now you’re talking,” Kenzie responded, nibbling her lower lip, and scooting down.

“Are you sure about this?” Rylee asked, peering into her eyes. It was too soon, but if Kenzie wanted her to, she’d move forward. It wasn’t like they hadn’t been there before.

“Are you kidding?” Kenzie responded, her breath quickening. “I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.” She nodded toward Rylee’s glass, saying, “Finish your wine.”

Five Stars.

Until Next Time,

Lynn

My Review for KA Moll’s ‘For a Moment’s Indiscretion’

Good afternoon Friends and welcome. You don’t want to miss today’s post. I am writing my review for KA Moll’s ‘For a Moment’s Indiscretion.’ If you like feeling the hairs of your neck curl, this one’s for you. The three points of view move smoothly and keep the story in full swing. The author will draw you in and keep you the entire ride. Here you will discover whether one moment can change the course of time.

For a Moment's Indiscretion cover

She was the only one she could trust now; the only one she could count on to keep her safe.

 For a Moment’s Indiscretion

The three main characters are Jaina, Zane, and Amelia. Jaina has a few life challenges and is clearly frustrated on many levels. Due to some past poor judgement, she has suffered some consequences in her life.  Her truthfulness was heartfelt and her growing internal strength was amazing to watch develop.

The love of her life is her preteen daughter, BK.  The reader will appreciate her genuine spirit. BK shows her real feelings and isn’t afraid to ask questions to both of her mom’s. I’m glad that this young girl was a big part of the story because she is intelligent and has a loving heart. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for her parents. Kudos to the author for showing this. If you love tweens, there are some touching mother daughter moments.

Zane is Jaina’s wife. She takes things way too personally and is stubborn when confronted. She made rash decisions that were based on her feelings in the moment. She never takes ownership for any problems and hides her feelings in her work. I found this to be disturbing because of her career choice. I felt that she needed to stop what she was doing and take a break to work on her own resentment issues. She was clumsy with delicate situations which stirred up emotions as I read.

Deep inside of her are true feelings of love that are trapped under her thick coat of armor. Her likable qualities pop up throughout the story, which the author clearly shows.

On top of all of this is Amelia, who immediately caught me as persuasive and sneaky.  She’s the type of person who will call you on a Sunday morning before you’ve had a chance to wake up.  In real life, I would steer clear of such a person. However here her contribution to the story is critical for some things to happen.  She is very well described.

Amelia is infatuated with one of the women. In the book, you’ll read more about her off-beat tenacious character. It is amazing what she was able to pull off and still not go away. There is nothing this woman would back away from.

In addition to the three women, there are Zane and Jaina’s trusted friends, Drew and Stacey and Anna and Gabe.  I liked these women since they are so down to earth, caring, and easy going.  Never once were they judgmental.  Always they sat in the space of love.  Like good friends, they do what they can to be supportive, especially when times are rough.

As I was reading, I felt like I was on a rollercoaster. There is a lot of drama between the main players which was intense at times. It was like the true colors of the women suddenly surfaced. Some of the scenes were very chilling and kept my heart beating fast. There are apexes in the plot that will keep you guessing. At times my head was spinning.

There is plenty of steam in the story that will fog up the windows.

You are going to want to carve out some time for this read because once you get in you’re not going to want to put it down. The pace is fast and you can finish it in an afternoon.  Click below to get your copy.

Here is an excerpt:

“We all make mistakes,” Drew responded.

“Yes, we do,” Zane agreed, “but I pray that this is the last one that I make that’s the size of this one.” Her eyes narrowed. “I allowed pride, pain, and anger to get the best of me, hefting all the blame for what occurred onto Jaina. I did that, knowing that I shared at least half of the responsibility. I dismissed her as if she weren’t trustworthy, knowing that in almost eleven years of marriage, she’s never lied to me.” She fought back tears. “Regardless of her transgression,” Zane choked, “my wife deserved better than what I gave her.” Her voice cracked with emotion as she finished her thought. “She deserved to be treated with the kindness and respect of a soul mate.” She crumpled onto the sofa. “I don’t know what to do,” Zane said, “and yet…” She caught back a sob.

Drew sat down beside her. “You remember that first conversation we had about you two being soul mates?” she asked.

Zane nodded. “How could I forget?” she answered with a half-hearted smile. “What happened afterward changed the course of my life.”

“If you remember that conversation,” Drew continued with an understanding smile, “then you know my advice.”

“I remember it as if you gave it yesterday,” Zane said softly. “You told me that everything is easier when a person is your soul mate. You assured me that what’s hard becomes simple with that person who makes you whole. You told me that you thought Jaina was my soul mate. And you were right.” Her eyes twinkled as she met Drew’s gaze. “Then,” she continued, “you looked me in the eye and told me to take a deep breath, square my shoulders, and do what I needed to do.”

“That’s right,” Drew responded. “So what is it that you need to do right now?” she asked.
